CarMate is a Chrome extension that helps Irish used car buyers make informed decisions on DoneDeal. This policy explains what data is collected and how it is used.

What data we collect

When you use CarMate to analyse a DoneDeal listing, the extension reads the following information from the page you are viewing:

• Vehicle details (make, model, year, mileage, fuel type, price)
• The listing title and seller description
• The URL of the listing

You also provide a personal buyer profile (your needs, budget, and priorities) which is stored locally on your device using your browser's localStorage. This profile is never shared with third parties.

How we use your data

Listing content and your buyer profile are sent to the CarMate server solely to generate a personalised buying analysis using AI. This data is used only to produce your analysis and is not stored, sold, or shared with any third party.

What we do not collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
• We do not track your browsing history
• We do not use cookies or analytics
• We do not store any data after your analysis is returned

Third-party services

CarMate uses the following third-party APIs to generate analysis:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) – for generating analysis text
• Tavily – for searching current market information

Data sent to these services is subject to their respective privacy policies. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
